Vampire Bats Reveal – After Effects Tutorial

A really sweet technique that you can use to generate a flock of “something” to form into a text, using Trapcode Particular.
I say flock of “something” because it doesn’t need to be bats necesarely. These same steps can be applied for butterflies, birds, whatever you want.

All you need to do is change the particle texture and you’re set.
This is also a procedural effect. If you change the text inside it’s holder, everything updates. Ofcourse, you can even use logos or other images.

The main trick here is to “disintegrate” the layer first, then reverse it to create this sort of “forming” effect.
After adjusting some settings we turn our particles into bats!
